Massage Therapy & Laser Therapy Combined Sessions
This Therapy Session offers the best of two amazing therapies!
Canine Massage Therapy involves the direct and skilled manipulation of muscles and fascia along with a real hands-on working knowledge of the muscular system including fibre direction, muscle isolation, origin and insertion points and functions in addition to palpation skills for tissue assessment.
Canine Laser Therapy is delivered via a handpiece that emits a therapeutic infrared light in a fast, drug-free, and soothing treatment. The light can treat superficial conditions such as wounds, as well as deeper structures, penetrating through fur, skin, and fat if necessary to reach the damaged or unhealthy tissue.
The therapeutic infrared light targets the mitochondria in damaged cells and stimulates them to regenerate and repair, encouraging optimal function. This regenerative process is called Photobiomodulation (PBM). PBM does not impact the function of normal cells but can help damaged cells to recover from injury faster.
Laser therapy can be utilised as an adjunct to existing treatments, often reducing or replacing the need for pain medications.
Why delivering both therapies in the same session works so well
-
-
- Laser therapy increases blood flow, having this therapy pre-massage therapy allows for a deeper tissue massage to occur earlier in the treatment session, thus allowing for a shorter therapy time. This is beneficial if your dog is very sore/uncomfortable or a little bit of a fidget.
- Both therapies allow your dog to release endorphins in their brain, this is the body’s natural pain relief. Reduced pain will help your dog to move with more comfort.
- Muscle tension can cause reduced joint movement which results in joint discomfort. Laser Therapy helps to relieve joint discomfort & Massage Therapy helps to relieve muscle tension.
- Both modalities help to improve mobility, function and comfort.
